Melava Malka מלוה מלכה
Melava Malka is the Motzei Shabbos meal that "escorts the Shabbos Queen" — the "fourth meal".
Fix / add informationMelaveh Malkah ("escorting the queen") is the meal held on Saturday night after Shabbos, to figuratively escort the Sabbath Queen on her way out with singing and eating, as one would escort a departing monarch. Its source is the Talmud — "A man shall always set his table on Motzaei Shabbos" — and it is also called "the fourth meal".
In Chasidic homes it is a time for zemiros, stories of tzaddikim and rebbes' tischen; "melava malka" is also the name for Motzei Shabbos gatherings, often fundraisers for yeshivas and organizations, with food and music.
