Le texte complet n'est pas encore traduit; il est affiché en anglais.

Nimrod was a son of Kush, grandson of Cham son of Noach. The Torah says he was the first 'mighty one on earth' and 'a mighty hunter before Hashem', and his kingdom began in Bavel, Erech, Accad and Calneh in the land of Shinar (Bereishis 10:8–10).

Chazal say the name Nimrod means 'he made the whole world rebel' against Hashem (Eruvin 53a). He is linked with the building of the Tower of Bavel.

The Midrash says Nimrod threw Avraham into a fiery furnace in Ur Kasdim for refusing to serve idols, and Avraham came out unharmed (Bereishis Rabbah 38:13). One opinion in the Gemara identifies 'Amrafel king of Shinar' (Bereishis 14:1) with Nimrod (Eruvin 53a; Rashi there).

Disputed or unverified

That Amrafel is Nimrod is one opinion in the Gemara (Eruvin 53a). The furnace story is from Midrash, not an explicit verse.
