Nevuchadnetzar (Nebuchadnezzar) נבוכדנצר
Nevuchadnetzar was the king of Bavel who destroyed the First Beis HaMikdash and exiled the Jews to Babylon.
Fix / add informationNevuchadnetzar was king of Bavel. He came up to Jerusalem and exiled King Yehoyachin with the officers, craftsmen and treasures to Bavel (II Melachim 24:10–16).
Later, when King Tzidkiyahu rebelled, Nevuchadnetzar besieged Jerusalem. Tzidkiyahu was captured and blinded (25:7), and Nevuzaradan, his general, burned the Beis HaMikdash and the city (25:8–9; Yirmiyahu 52).
In Sefer Daniel: Daniel interprets his dream of the statue and the four kingdoms (Daniel 2); he sets up a golden image, and Chananya, Mishael and Azarya are thrown into a fiery furnace and come out unharmed (ch. 3); and he goes mad and eats grass like an animal until he recognizes Hashem's greatness (ch. 4).
