Kishke קישקע
Kishke is a stuffed casing filled with flour, fat and spices — a classic addition to cholent.
Fix / add informationKishke (kishka) is a stuffed casing popular across Eastern Europe and among Jewish immigrants; the word means "intestine" in Yiddish, Polish and Russian, since it was traditionally stuffed into one. Fillings combine a meal or grain with fat and seasonings.
In Jewish kitchens kishke is closely tied to cholent: a piece is placed in the pot to cook overnight with the beans and meat. Ready-made kishke is sold in heimish stores, and many families still make their own.
