A tish is a gathering of Hasidim around their Rebbe, with divrei Torah, niggunim and zemiros, and food distributed; Hasidim see it as a moment of great holiness. It is also called arichas hashulchan, with bread and wine essential.

The Rebbe sits at the head; in large courts only he and a few close family and disciples eat the meal, while shirayim (small portions of bread, fish, meat, farfel, beans, kugel, cake or fruit) are given out to all. Large courts set up bleachers, called parentches, for onlookers.
