Cantor Yossele Rosenblatt חזן יאסעלע ראזענבלאט ע"ה
Cantor Yossele Rosenblatt (1882–1933) was one of the greatest chazzanim in Jewish history.
Josef "Yossele" Rosenblatt was born on May 9, 1882 in Bila Tserkva (now Ukraine), into a long line of cantors, and died on June 19, 1933. His religious upbringing kept him from formal conservatory training; he began in a synagogue choir and was hailed as a child prodigy. His family moved to Sadigora when he was seven.
At 17 he led services at Vienna's largest synagogues. He served the Hasidic community of Munkacs, then Pressburg and Hamburg, and in 1912 moved to Harlem, New York, to Ohab Zedek. His recordings are still listened to and studied by cantors worldwide.
