Rabbi Uri Zohar הרב אורי זוהר זצ"ל

Uri Zohar was born on November 4, 1935 in Tel Aviv and passed away on June 2, 2022. In the 1960s and 1970s he was one of Israel's most prolific and prominent film directors, actors and comedians.

He was named a recipient of the Israel Prize for Cinema in 1976 but declined it. He later left the film world, became a baal teshuva and a rabbi, and his story became a symbol for many of returning to one's roots.
