Route 59 & Monsey רוט 59 און מאנסי

New York State Route 59 runs east from Hillburn through Airmont, Monsey and Spring Valley in Rockland County; in Monsey it meets the southern end of Route 306. For many, "59" means shopping, lined with kosher supermarkets and stores. Monsey is a hamlet in the Town of Ramapo with 26,954 residents (2020 census) and a large, growing Haredi community; per Wikipedia it is the largest Hasidic center in the U.S. outside NYC. Migration began in the late 1940s, and "Monsey" has become a metonym for Orthodox Jews throughout Rockland.
