Michoel Schnitzler was born on August 7, 1961, into a rabbinic family in Brooklyn. After his father passed away when he was 15, he studied at the Tosh yeshiva in Quebec.

He began singing in the 1980s when he was asked to sing at the Satmar Rebbe's tisch on Succos; embarrassed, he sang facing the wall, but the warm reception encouraged him. Wedding bookings followed, at a time when singers at Chasidic weddings were still unusual.

His first album came out in 2000; he released 15 albums with over 150 songs, mostly in Yiddish, sang at more than 4,200 weddings, and composed for Lipa Schmeltzer, Pinky Weber and Motti Ilowitz. Known for his booming voice and rapport with the audience, he passed away on April 14, 2023.
