Asher was the second son of Yaakov and Zilpah; his tribe is known for wealth and fine olive oil.

Asher was born to Yaakov and Zilpah; Leah said 'Happy am I' (Bereishis 30:12–13). Yaakov blessed him: 'From Asher, his bread shall be rich, and he shall yield royal delicacies' (49:20).
Moshe blessed: 'Blessed among sons is Asher... he shall dip his foot in oil' (Devarim 33:24) — his land would overflow with oil.
