The successor

Reb Velvel was born in 1886 in Volozhin. After his father passed away in 1918 he became Rav of Brisk [1]. During the Second World War he escaped and reached Eretz Yisroel, settling in Yerushalayim [1].

The shiurim in Yerushalayim

There he gave shiurim to a small circle of select students, in his father's derech [1]. His novellae, "Chiddushei Maran Riz HaLevi", were published on the Rambam and on the Torah. He was known for great stringency and care in every detail of halacha.

Legacy

He passed away in 1959 in Yerushalayim [1]. His sons and grandsons lead the Brisk yeshivas in Yerushalayim to this day, where students from around the world come to learn Brisker lomdus.
