Origins
Breslov Hasidism was founded by Rabbi Nachman of Breslov (1772–1810), a great-grandson of the Baal Shem Tov. He was renowned for his deep teachings and parables that made kabbalistic concepts accessible, emphasizing a joyous and personal connection with God.
Leadership
For over 200 years, the movement has not had a central living leader, as Rabbi Nachman did not appoint a successor. Adherents focus on studying his works, such as Likutey Moharan, and following his guidance to navigate life's challenges.
Communities
Breslov communities exist globally. Notable institutions include the 'Nachal Novea Mekor Chochma' community in Safed, founded in the 1960s, and various congregations in New York, such as the Hisachdos Avreichim Breslov in Borough Park, which serve as spiritual centers for the followers.
